rap, melodic bass
Future bass producer Steve Marks and hard rock front man of Australian band Massive Brad Marr have formed an unlikely alliance, teaming up to record a new single titled Parallel Universe.
The global pandemic has forced musicians all over the world to find a new way. Some musicians turned to online concerts while others used their down time to be creative. Enter Australian born, now German residents: Steve Marks and Brad Marr. Both are taking a genre leap with their new single.
“These are strange times with corona and all, so why not try something different?” remarks Steve Marks. “I can’t DJ anywhere, Brad can’t tour anywhere with Massive, so why not adapt to survive like everyone has during 2020.”
Brad Marr adds “I’ve been playing rock n roll my whole life, it consumes every part of me, but if there was ever a year to branch out, this is it. Remove the mental barriers, walk up to the mic and just say something with meaning. I don’t think either of us expected this song when we first teamed up.”
Parallel Universe is a truly unique track merging the unlikely genres of melodic bass and rap. This track is Steve’s third official release and Brad’s first ever solo release away from his highly acclaimed rock band Massive. “I sent Brad a track with a basic idea of what I wanted for the vocals, but he totally scrapped my idea and recorded some crazy rap over the top, which I was not expecting at all, but after listening to it a few times it really grew on me. This is something totally different to anything else out there at the moment, filling a void between melodic bass music and rap.” Brad laughs by adding: “2020 is crazy. I’m releasing a future bass rap song... I swear I am in a parallel universe.”
Parallel Universe is out now through Wrecking Crew Records on all digital platforms.
