Phillip Jarrell

Phillip Jarrell is an American award-winning singer-songwriter. He co-wrote the #1 Billboard Hit “Torn Between Two Lovers” with Peter Yarrow, of Peter, Paul, and Mary. He won numerous B.M.I. Awards for Pop, and Country Music, as well as a Three Million AirPlay award for “Torn Between Two Lovers” which has been recorded in many languages around the world.
In 1977 Phillip released an album, “I Sing My Songs For You” and one single “ I’m Dying” on Motown Records.
In 1978, he produced a solo album for 20th Century Fox, but due to the fact that the acting president of the record company, who had signed him, resigned two weeks before the release date, the album was never officially released, though to this day it can be found for sale around the internet.
In 1979, he produced “The Lurkers” including their album “God’s Lonely Men” album and “Out In The Dark” EP:  The song "Cyanide” from that project is included on their greatest hits compilation “Last Will And Testament”, all released by Beggars Banquet Records.
Shortly thereafter he mysteriously vanished from the American Pop Music Scene.
He pursued other forms of artistic expression living in Milano, Hamburg, Paris, and New York, until landing in Shanghai in 2001. Fashion, celebrity, and fine art photograph took most of his attention, but he never stopped dreaming music. Once in China, after shooting for Elle Magazine China, he grew roots in Shanghai and co-founded the 5th Avenue Photography Studio.  By 2007 the undertow of music resurfaced when he co-founded Jarrell Guitars. He performed a variety of high profile concerts, including a headlining show at the Zhu Jia Jiao Music Festival, performing on the Sennheiser stage at The F-1 Chinese Grand Prix, and The Rolex Tennis Masters Tournament. His Fine art photography, and handmade guitars, have been exhibited in art shows and museums.
Due to the worldwide Corona Virus lockdown, FATE has chosen this time for Phillip’s return from the self-imposed Rock and Roll Exile. His first original music release in 40 years, “Love is Better Than Gold” (Money) went live on most digital platforms on July 29, 2020. It debuted on Corky Byer’s- Juke Box - Radio Show, at 91.7 FM MANA'O RADIO, Maui, August 2, 2020. On that day DJ, Corky Byer commented that most people have never heard of Phillip Jarrell, but most people know his song well. And most people have heard the sounds of his guitars playing in the hands of great musicians on tours around the world, like Madonna's guitarist, Monte Pittman, MacMcAnally long time member of Jimmy Buffett's, Coral Refer Band. Mac is CMA's "Musician of the Year", eleven-times. And in the Metal Rock world, Mike Wead with King Diamond, plays a signature Jarrell V Guitar, to name a few.
Phillip is either a time traveler or a visionary of sorts as he was writing songs in the mid-'70s trying to alert people of a future that has now come to pass.
During the first months of the quarantine, while looking through a box of photos, and listening to DAT tapes, he was transported back to the '70s and '80s with a mission to retrieve a life essence driven by music. His “Time Traveler Stories” three-song EP will appear on digital platforms on October 1st. Followed by a “Time Traveler Stories” Album, The Bright Side, and Dark Side in the near future.  Phillip is currently in Shanghai, China, preparing for a live concert and art show.
