Doc E.C. is a singer-songwriter from Port Arthur, Texas who now resides with his family near Tallahassee in Midway, Florida. Doc grew up in the performing arts. Being the son of a classically trained choral director ensured early and continued exposure to various styles of music. Port Arthur is the hometown of such varied musical acts like Janis Joplin, C.J. Chenier, Zachary Breaux, DJ DMD, and UGK.
Doc formed a band called Slique in high school and joined another before going to college. The band often played the music of Minneapolis. During those years, the seeds for Love Changes were planted and the first versions of songs like Real Love, Trust Our Love, Matters of the Heart (Love Changes), and Gangster of Love were recorded. After many years away from shopping demos and attending conventions seeking major label support, Doc has returned to try his hand as an Independent Artist. The love of music has never faltered and the belief in this project has never wavered.
Doc's music is inspired by the work of Prince, The Jacksons, New Edition, Ray Parker Jr., Luther Vandross, Babyface, The Time, Teddy Riley, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Gap Band, Isley Bros, Motown, Alexander O'Neal, and too many others to name.
Music connects us all. Love is our common pursuit. Doc calls his music "Mellow Funk" and thinks of this movement as "The New Old School". Please enjoy!!
